14 ways how parents can teach emotional skills for boys (and girls of course)
The importance of emotional skills in life cannot be measured in money. The way we perceive our own emotions strongly affects our ability to make wise choices. Emotional processing skills are an important foundation for all kinds of relationships in our lives. Understanding and processing more difficult emotions, in particular, helps us express ourselves constructively and prevent impulsive and reckless behavior, which can potentially have irreversibly serious consequences.
In this post, I will go through ways in which emotional skills can be taught to boys.

1. Lead by example
Express your own emotions openly and in a controlled manner. Speak calmly and be reliable.
2. Name emotions
Help the boy identify and name different emotions in everyday life.
3. Teach the boy God-consciousness
Explain how God sees everything he does and feels.
4. Teach the boy to pray and create a relationship with God
Tell him how he can always rely on God in problems, difficult emotions, and every situation.
5. Teach the child about the importance of gratitude.
Explain that being grateful for everything, even difficult things, brings him more blessings and good things.

6. Listen actively
Show interest in the boy’s feelings and thoughts.
7. Accept all emotions
Teach that all emotions are allowed, but their expression can be regulated.
8. Teach the boy to calm down and breathe deeply, which makes it easier to relax.
9. Practice expressing emotions
Encourage the boy to express his feelings verbally.

10. Teach problem-solving
Help the boy find constructive ways to deal with challenging emotions.
11. Read books about emotional skills
Discuss together the emotions of characters in stories.
12. Play emotion games
Utilize games that teach emotion recognition and expression.
13. Practice empathy
Encourage the boy to put himself in others’ positions in different situations.
14. Give positive feedback
Praise the boy when he expresses his emotions constructively.
Remember that every child is an individual, and learning emotional skills is an ongoing process. Be patient and consistent in your teaching
